Melissa Russell
graduated from Bucks County Community College with an
Associates Degree in Graphic Design and Ilustration.
She moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, where she co-founded The Morning Raven
Art Co-op. There she concentrated on landscape and nature watercolors
and the Native American Art of Southeastern Alaska. After 3
years in Alaska, she moved to N.Y.C. and found work in the childrens
textile trade. While working full-time for a clothing manufacturer, she
studied at the School of Visual Arts, Parsons School of Design and the
Fashion Institute of Technology. She freelanced for publications and
a greeting card company in N.Y., as well as the Children's Television
Workshop. She moved back to Doylestown in 1993 and continues to
work freelance
out of her studio here doing textile designs and illustration
for clients in N.Y.C. as well as participating in local art exhibits
and galleries. Awards include the Society of Illustrators 26th Annual-1984
and an Emmy Award Recognition for the 1989-90 season of Sesame Street.
She is presently building a portfolio concentrating on children's book
illustration.
