Maggie Leiby was born and raised
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After spending
many years in the Atlanta, Georgia area, she and her husband,
Bob, returned to
Pennsylvania and settled in Doylestown Township. They have
two grown daughters,
Madeleine and Jennifer.
Maggie worked as a registered nurse until, in 1988, a serious
illness and a
life-altering dream changed the course of her life. Following
the words spoken
by God in her dream, she began private painting lessons. In
1991 she
recognized the need to formalize her art training and enrolled
at Kennesaw
State University graduating, Magna cum Laude, in 1994 with
a BA in Studio Art.
Maggie works mostly in oils, watercolor, and pastel, and mosaic.
As a believer
in life-long learning, the artist has attended many workshops
offered by
acclaimed artists, such as Nelson Shanks and Lois Griffel
to increase her
knowledge and skills. She has studied at the Pennsylvania
Academy of the Fine
Arts, and is currently, studying at Studio Incamminati.
The artist has traveled to Japan, Mexico, England, Ireland,
France, Italy,

Artist Statement
The beauty of the landscape has always stirred my soul.
In my paintings I try
to capture the Spiritual force emanating from the land. Like
the
Impressionists, I am fascinated with light and atmospheric
conditions which I
believe help to create a sense of mood and place.
I thank God for opening the wonderful world of art to me through
a dream. I
look upon my dream as a gift; acting upon that dream, and
what I do with my art
is my gift back to Him.
