As an “artist”, the first
question I am most often asked is: “What inspires you?” That question
can be easily answered with one word – LIFE! I truly believe that art
in any form is a gift to express life. For some artists it is visual,
often seen or even felt deep in the soul or the mind long before it
takes form. Sometimes it’s sound, the cry of a fox at night, or as
simple as the sounds of words flowing like a brook. Inspiration may
be the feel of a wonderful textile, or the coolness of a lump of earth
as it transforms into a vessel.
As an artist I see beauty in line, the soft curve of a nude models
hip, the delicate texture in the wings of a butterfly, the graceful
limb of a flowering orchid. I see the little lines expressing joy on
my husband’s face and the twinkle in his eye when he’s happy.
Interpretation is the thought behind the inspiration, what medium
will best express that moment in time I want to share with you; have
you see and feel through my soul, as I see and feel inspiration.
As a visual artist it is my job to make it possible to convey to you
through use of materials, colors, lines, shapes, textures, and sometimes
words to encourage feelings of your own and your inspiration of life!
