My husband and I have lived
in Bucks County, Pennsylvania since 1977 when we moved here from South
Jersey with our four children who are now grown and on their own.
Art has been a part of my life since I was a child. My free time was spent making
pencil drawings of anything and everything, but my favorite subject was people.
I eventually moved on to charcoal and then pastels but never a liquid medium.
As an adult I loved making gifts of art for my family and friends and began experimenting
with oil and acrylic paints and ink. My formal training began when our youngest
child graduated from high school and I began taking part time evening classes
at Bucks County Community College while continuing my job as a teacher's assistant
in a special education classroom in Central Bucks School District.
I continued taking classes for several years until our grandchildren came along
at which point I put my education on hold so I could spend more time with them.
Since I still wanted to grow as an artist and had long admired watercolor paintings
I began taking classes from a local watercolorist. I found it to be a perfect
medium for me, one I could pick up and put down in minutes if need be, which
perfectly suited my busy life.
I truly love the surprises that can happen with watercolor and the spontaneity
and wonderful sense of light it conveys. I love to paint many things, but my
favorite subject is still people. Drawing and painting have been such a wonderful
part of my life that I find both relaxing and exciting as I contemplate what
I will do next. It gives me personal pleasure and it makes me happy to see others
enjoy it.
