Gale Shanks Scotch of New Hope paints local scenes in brilliant oil and acrylic color. She has her studio in beautiful Solebury Township.
Although Gale has studied with many prominent artists and outstanding instructors in workshops and local art centers, she is primarily a self-taught artist, continuously developing her own style. Many art lovers collect her works.
Gale has exhibited and sold her paintings at the juried Phillips Mill Art Exhibition and many local galleries.
She also won a national art contest of the US Postal Service. Her painting was on the cover of Postal Life Magazine. Check the internet at www.usps.com/history/plife/nov_dec98/.
In 2002 Gale won second place in acrylics at the juried art show at the Tinicum Arts and Crafts Festival. She placed third in 2001.
She was involved in the Miles of Mules public art project through the James A. Michener Art Museum. "Reflective Mule" was sponsored by the Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation.
Currently you can find her work at Michelyn Galleries in Doylestown. One of her most popular paintings, "Carversville Day", was juried in the Philadelphia Sketch Club's 144th annual exhibition in April. |
