Dyan Laws studio and residence
are located in Pipersville, Pennsylvania. A painter, designer and teacher
of Fine Art, she has produced numerous artworks, sold and distributed
internationally in retail stores, art galleries and direct mail catalogs.
She is an American Greeting Card Association Louie Award Finalist and
has designed numerous award-winning products for the gift, stationery
and printing industries. In 2004, Dyan was honored with the Stoner
Award for her landscape oil painting displayed in the Seventy fifth
Phillips Mill Art Juried Exhibition in New Hope, PA. In addition, her
paintings and designs have been featured on CBS Morning News, in Newsday
and The Intelligencer newspapers, Womans Day, Art Matters, Bucks County
Town & Country Living, Seventeen, and Bride magazines, Dreamworks
and MGM pictures. In addition Dyans paintings and illustrations have
been published in numerous gift and printing
product catalogs, books and stationery.
For several years, Dyan was the designer of exclusive product-lines
including gifts, toys, dinnerware, and textiles for the Lillian Vernon
Catalogs. In 1993, Dyan formed Dyan Law Design, Inc., creating and
manufacturing unique, upscale invitations and hand-gilded stationery.
Five years later she became the Director and Designer of custom promotional
products which sold to the entertainment, designer clothing, advertising
and book industries for Michael Roger Press, Inc., located in Middlesex,
New Jersey. Presently, Dyan is the Director and Instructor of the Dyan
Law Skyview Art Studio, a fine art school devoted to adult students
who are seriously interested in furthering their personal goals in
the art field.
Dyan earned her Bachelor Degree majoring in Primary and Secondary
Art Education and also holds an Associate Degree of Fine Art from the
University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. After college, she studied
Painting and Drawing at the Art Students League in New York City, the
State University of New York in Purchase, New York and the Westchester
Art Center in White Plains, New York. Later, she became a member of
the Edward Hopper House in Nyack, New York. Dyan taught Fine Art in
New York City, was Director and Instructor at the New Castle Art Center
in Chappaqua and at Pocantico Hills Camp in New York. One year after
relocating to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Dyan founded the Highland
Manor Art Studio in Chalfont, where she instructed classes in Oil,
Acrylic and Watercolor Painting, Color Theory, and Drawing. Her teaching
methods emphasize the development of creativity and imagination in
the students approach to life and work. Among Dyans personally rewarding
experiences was her art instruction of cancer patients at the Hospital
of Joint Diseases in New York City. In addition, for the past three
years Dyan has been serving as Membership Chairperson on the Executive
Committee of the Artsbridge Association in Lambertville, New Jersey,
helping to bring together over 700 artists in local and surrounding
communities.
Currently Dyan spends most of her time painting, working primarily
in oils and uses much of the same techniques to enrich color light
and shadow with pastels and watercolors. She avoids stylistic fads
in art and enjoys working with diverse subject matter. She believes
variation of subject allows her to remain fresh in her approach to
the strong, but peaceful images she wishes to capture. Practicing Martial
arts for many years, Dyan continues to apply her rich experiences with
body, mind and spirit to her Visual Art.
